June 8-10, 2022

Fun Camp | $150 per camper

- Rising 1st - 2nd Grade • 9am - 12pm

This camp encourages students to have fun with their friends while enjoying different themed activities each day of the week. Themed days will include exploring the outdoors, learning about plants, animals, and insects, doing fun arts and crafts, playing sports and games, treasure hunts, and more! The week will culminate with a water activity on Friday. At the end of each day, students will practice drawing in their journals and sharing their favorite part of the day with their friends.

Limited to 25 campers

Dangerous Boys Club & Daring Girls Club Camps | $300 per camper

- Rising 3rd - 8th Grade • 9am - 3pm

This camp is designed to cultivate a love of the outdoors as well as a sense of independence. Campers will stretch their imaginations and hone their wilderness skills during this 5–day adventure. Activities will include nature hikes, scavenger hunts, team-building games, fire starting, shelter building, nerf gun battles, archery, knot tying, and obstacle courses. The camp will also have other elements such as learning about great battles that shaped America and the west, speeches, stories, poetry and much more!

(Students should pack a snack, lunch, and a water bottle for the day)

June 13-17, 2022

Fun Camp | $225 per camper

Renaissance Camp | $225 per camper

- Rising 3rd - 4th Grade • 9am - 12pm
- Rising 5th - 8th Grade • 12:30 - 3:30pm

The purpose of this camp is to develop a multi-faceted skill set, broaden student horizons, and most importantly have fun! Our campus provides a beautiful setting for a wide range of learning, growth, and excitement. The activities in this camp will range from string art to painting, crafting, clay work, cooking, baking, scavenger hunts, strategic games, chess and a chess tournament, and more!

(Students who are staying for an afternoon session should pack a snack, lunch, and a water bottle. They will have a lunch break at school from 12:00-12:30 p.m., before the afternoon session running from 12:30-3:30 p.m)

Sports & Games Camp | $225 per camper

- Rising 3rd - 4th Grade • 12:30 - 3:30pm
- Rising 5th - 8th Grade • 9am - 12pm

This camp is designed to develop skills, strategic thinking and a love of sports through participation in team sports and strategic leisure games. The activities will grow campers’ skills in dribbling, passing, stick handling, and shooting abilities. Additionally, campers will enhance their knowledge of soccer, basketball and street hockey as well as other games to develop a love of the game and to learn strategies to succeed while playing on a team. Competitions will regularly occur during both drills and games and campers will stretch their imaginations to create plays for their teams.

The Adventurers' Camp for Girls | $225 per camper

- Rising 1st - 2nd Grade • 12:30 - 3:30pm

The Adventurers’ camp for girls is a camp filled with fun adventurous activities with an added element of formation. Every day will be a new challenge in which girls will have to use their knowledge and understanding of the natural world with strategy to solve the problem at hand. The girls will learn practical skills from braiding and knot-tying to surviving in the wilderness. To supplement the practical, the girls will learn about how to grow in virtue through examples from classic literature. Through these activities the campers will grow in skills, confidence, and fellowship. We will strive to make it a fun-filled educational experience for all. 

(Students in Fun Club who are staying for The Adventurers’ Camp should pack a snack, lunch, and a water bottle. They will have a lunch break at school from 12:00-12:30 p.m., before the afternoon session running from 12:30-3:30 p.m.)

The Adventurers' Camp for Boys | $225 per camper

- Rising 1st - 2nd Grade • 12:30 - 3:30pm

Boys need adventure and imagination in their life and this camp is just for them. It is designed to help foster the best version of himself by virtue through fun. The goal for each day is to help your son build skills for friendship, love for what is good, use of justice, and fortitude among more character filled virtues. This mission will help drive the boys to help develop their character by learning within games, imagination, and activities. Boys spend all school year in the classroom, so this is the perfect opportunity to foster directed leisure through fun adventure. The setup will be based on four teams competing each day for the final point tally by Friday. Activities will include nerf-gun battles, obstacle courses, team sports, capture the flag, paper airplanes, fort building/battles, tall tales and more!

June 20-24, 2022

Kayak Camp | $650 per camper

- Rising 6th - 8th Grade • 9am - 3pm

Look up; there’s a bald eagle! Close your eyes; smell the marsh! Reach down; feel the cool water!

Do you know what we are doing? We are kayaking along the Potomac River. This summer, are offering a kayak summer camp where your child will be able to learn fundamental kayaking skills, navigate the Potomac River water, and explore the natural world. Whether your child has previous kayak experience or not the instructor will teach basic kayak skills in order to navigate the River safely. Each day we will meet at Saint John’s Academy and then shuttle to the activity site of the day. All kayaking supplies will be provided (kayaks, paddles, and lifejackets).

(Students should pack a snack, lunch, and a water bottle for the day.)

Tennis Camp June 13 - August 1

Rising Grades 1-8 | $250 per week

- Monday - Friday | 9:00 - 11:00am
- Available Weeks: June 13, June 20, June 27, July 5, July 11, July 18, July 25, August 1

Tennis camp will be offered this summer coached by Ms. Caroline Haymans, an instructional assistant at St. John’s. Ms. Haymans has been playing tennis for over 20 years. She played number one singles and doubles at Gettysburg College and is currently the number one women’s tennis player at Marymount University. She was also previously ranked number 8 in Virginia and number 20 in the Mid-Atlantic region. She loves working with children, and currently works as an instructional assistant at Saint John the Beloved Academy while finishing her teaching degree at Marymount!

PLEASE NOTE, DROP OFF AND PICK UP ARE AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS:
The camp will be held at the tennis courts at Linway Terrace Park, 6246 Linway Terrace, McLean, Virginia 22101.
Students should be dropped off and picked up at the tennis court at 11:00 a.m.

 

Recreational Games Camp June 13 - August 1

Rising Grades 1-8 | $200 per week

- Monday - Friday | 11:30am - 3:00pm
- Available Weeks: June 13, June 20, June 27, July 5, July 11, July 18, July 25, August 1

Does your child enjoy playing fun outdoor games like capture the flag, water balloon toss, and scavenger hunts? If so, they will love recreational games camp! Come join us at Saint John’s from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for an exciting, fun filled afternoon. Hope to see you there! This camp is led by Ms. Caroline Haymans, an instructional assistant at St. John’s.

Drop off and pick up will be at main school entrance.

 

Girls Volleyball Camp

Rising Grades 4-9 | $450 per camper

- June 27 - July 1 | 9:00am - 3:30pm

Elevate your daughter’s game with a week of skills training, team play, and fun!  Beginners and advanced players alike will benefit from these five days of fundamentals led by former Notre Dame 4-time volleyball conference champion and Division One coach, Molly Mehan. With a strong emphasis on building virtue through athletics, we will equip young women with the skills necessary to be a team player on and off the court.

Limited financial aid is available for students in need.

Molly (McCarthy) Mehan is a four-time NCAA Division One volleyball conference champion and former Division One volleyball coach. She played for the University of Notre Dame where she won four conference championships, including three Big East Championships, as well as three appearances in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament. She was the recipient of the Francis Patrick O’Connor Award which “honors one female…student-athlete who best displays the total embodiment of the true spirit of Notre Dame as exemplified by [her] contributions and inspirations to [her] team….[through her] caring, courage, confidence, encouragement, humility, honesty, humor, kindness and patience.”  Molly went on to coach Division I volleyball at Loyola College in Baltimore, and she has coached, taught, and mentored at the high school level as well.  She has run and coached numerous camps.  Molly places a strong emphasis on developing virtue through athletics.  She is married and has eight children.
