Choir Program
The choir is open to students in grades 3-8. The choir sings at school events and a Winter and Spring Concert. The choristers also have opportunities to sing in the Diocesan Honors Choral Event and The American Federation Pueri Cantores Festival Mass in early Spring. Additionally, the choir sings for all-school Masses; with a smaller Mass Schola that sings for First Friday Masses. The Mass Schola leads the congregation in singing hymns and Mass ordinaries while enhancing the liturgy with sung propers and motets.
Choristers will learn:
- Proper vocal technique and projection
- Fundamentals of sight-singing and music theory, building on the Ward Method taught in classroom music
- The importance of blend and cohesiveness within a choir
- A varied repertoire, including Gregorian chant and sacred music as well as inspiring secular songs, ranging from traditional folk melodies to Broadway hits.
