SJBA Annual Mardi Gras
King Cake Raffle Fundraiser
To continue the St. John’s tradition of celebrating Mardi Gras and giving back to those in need, this year we are giving all of the students King Cake to celebrate the feast in their own classrooms.
Additionally, we are holding a Mardi Gras King Cake Raffle from the Bayou Bakery in Arlington, Virginia (https://www.bayoubakeryva.com/) this is the cake that has garnered rave reviews from The Today Show and The New York Times, and The Washington Post has deemed it “One of the Top 5 King Cakes in the Country.”
Who Benefits from this Fundraiser?
One half of the proceeds will go to the 2023 Annual Fund, which continue to offer financial aid to those families who need it, competitive salaries and on-going professional development for our faculty and offsetting operational expenses.
The other half will be donated to the Diocese of Arlington Gabriel Project. In addition to offering pre-natal care assistance through Tepeyec OB/Gyn, they offer assistance from parish ministries, Catholic Charities, crisis pregnancy centers and other community centers.
Winners will be announced at the Mardi Gras Jazz Night on Thursday, February 16, at 10:00 PM.

The King Cake is a tasteful Danish-style Cake filled with a signature Creole Cream Cheese and covered in an irresistibly delicious, fluffy White Icing, and sugar dusted with the trio of traditional Mardi Gras colors: Gold for Power, Green for Faith, and Purple for Justice. [Serves 14 -16 people.]
