 Music Classes

Music is offered weekly to all students who attend SJA. Classes are centered around the Ward method: a program of music instruction founded in Gregorian chant. This method teaches all elements of music, including rhythm, pitch, notation, composition, and conducting through movement and singing.

 Band

The band program is open to students in grades four through eight. Sectional band lessons are given throughout the school day to students playing in various instrument groups. The band performs at concerts presented to students during school hours, and at special evening performances for family and friends. The Advanced Band has a full band practice after school on Fridays, and also performs at the Diocesan Band festival. Students may rent or purchase their instruments.

 Art

The art program emphasizes a cross-curricular approach. Various media and techniques are used to stimulate the students to think creatively and communicate their feeling and ideas through the production of art. Art history and appreciation is promoted through The Elizabeth Program, which introduces students to renowned artists from around the world, and their artistic styles.
